With the HOLD STRONG Slam Ball, we offer another universal training device that should not be missing in any functional training setting. It is extra robust for versatile strength endurance training, and perfect for indoor and outdoor use. The slam balls are filled with sand and have a rubberised outer skin provided with non-slip nubs. The material composition of very strong but deformable rubber on the outside and sand filling on the inside ensures that the slam balls do not jump away, even during very intense throws on the floor or against the wall. These characteristics makes their application possibilities so diverse. Slam balls are very stable and cannot be broken, even under very intense loads. The Slam Ball is available in 5 different weight classes from 4 to 20 kg. 

The Slam Ball is suitable for everyone, from beginners to ambitious athletes. It can be used in group or individual training and integrated into sport-specific training in team and martial arts. Basic fitness and knowledge of the correct execution of movement sequences are an advantage for optimal use and to protect against injuries. It unfolds its full spectrum of effects in functional training, cross-training and core training. Almost all motor areas can be addressed, from stability to mobility and coordination to dynamic force types, such as rapid force, explosive force and force endurance. The Slam Ball is washable and can be used outdoots and indoors, whether in the gym, in a box, the sports hall or outside in the park.

The principle of training with the slam ball is quite simple and consists of throwing the ball quickly and firmly on the floor or against the wall. The subsequent picking up is part of the training process. The intensity and complexity of the exercises can be changed by the weight and the degree of difficulty of the sequence of movements. In principle, when throwing or spinning, it is mainly the arms that are dynamically stressed. The trunk can be involved in the movement or stabilised. When picking up the Slam Ball, the braking force of the legs and the stabilisation of the trunk are required.

Basic exercise with the slam ball

The basic exercise is such that the Slam Ball is lifted over the head when the standing and then thrown directly in front of the body with force and speed. After that, the pick-up takes place with the fuselage stabilised. This basic sequence of movements can be modified by various parameters in such a way that the degree of difficulty increases, especially in the areas of coordination and strength. The ball can be lifted and then thrown in a diagonal, for example from top right to bottom left. At the same time, the legs move downwards, so that the Slam Ball is picked up immediately after hit the ground. As a result, the process becomes much more dynamic, and the requirements for the trunk muscles increase enormously, as they are involved in the throwing movement, but still have to stabilise.

A next stage of increase would be to carry out the described process in motion. There are no limits to your imagination. For throws against the wall, the same principles apply, but the strain on the arm and trunk muscles is different. The movement sequence is against gravity and appeals to other muscle groups. Training with the slam ball is ideal for fun and dynamic and core training.
