Description

The WATERROWER was invented in 1988 by John Duke, a Yale University engineer and USA Rowing National Team candidate. His goal was to create a piece of fitness equipment that replicates the experience of rowing in a boat, bringing the sound, resistance, and physiological benefits to a wider audience. The aesthetic of the machine was also important, with the aim of it being a piece of art or furniture that would complement a residential setting.

This inspiration was taken from the sparse elegance of Shaker furniture, renowned for being beautiful, well-made objects that could be used in everyday life. WATERROWER has continued to uphold this ethos over the past 35+ years, producing what is widely regarded as the most realistic simulator of an on- water rowing experience that can be used

Product features

The WaterRower Digital Heart Rate Monitoring Kit, uses ANT+ wireless technology to accurately measure heart rate and display it on the WaterRower S4 Performance Monitor.

Digital heart rate monitors have a transmission distance of 1.5 meters (as opposed to 1.0 meters for analogue monitors, such as Polar). This allows the receiver to be placed internal, or adjacent to the monitor removing the need for unsightly extension cables. Further, the use of digital technology improves accuracy and reliability.

ANT+ digital wireless technology greatly improves the range and accuracy of heart rate information and is widely adopted by industry leaders such as Cardio Sport, Garmin, Timex, etc.
